Can Artificial Intelligence Solve the Rubik's Cube
The Rubik Cube (Brain Cube or Patience Cube), invented by the Hungarian sculptor and architect Ernõ Rubik in 1974, has caused many people who have tried to solve it since the day it was invented, to make a cold sweat, throw a towel, and until we wrote this sentence, an artificial intelligence has already matched all the surfaces of the cube with the same color squares.
Senior author Pierre Baldi, a computer science professor at the University of California, and researchers in his team managed to solve the Rubik's Cube in just over a second using AI. They found that DeepCubeA, an enhanced deep learning algorithm, solved 100% of all trial sequences and found the shortest path at 60%. Baldi stated that DeepCubeA completed the Rubik's Cube in about 20 moves, in which a person made about 50 moves to solve. He states that by solving all the aforementioned combination sequences, artificial intelligence performs its training for two days on its own. He also emphasizes that the ultimate goal of such projects is to build a new generation of artificial intelligence systems.
